Fleet Controller
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our services and operations cover pallet network in East Anglia and full-load distribution across the UK. The company has a vacancy in our Fleet Department team for a Fleet Controller based in Woolpit.

Reporting to the General Manager, Support the key focus of the Fleet Controller will be the day-to-day administration of company fleet and LGV drivers - 100 vehicles and trailers, 4 operating centres, 80 drivers, £5m costs annually and a large supplier base.


Role objectives will include:

  • Ensure full legal compliance for fleet administration
  • Manage vehicle maintenance - quality and cost
  • Ensure thorough procurement processes are in place to ensure ‘best cost’ at all times
  • Minimise expenditure on damage and repairs


Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records, organise scheduled servicing, MOT dates, tyre management, tail lift servicing
  • Monitor and report supplier non-compliance and implement corrective actions
  • Supervise all defect reporting and ensure legal compliance
  • undertake “Vehicle Observation” checks (ADR equipment, cleanliness, damage)
  • Monitor and report accident repair cost and any incidental damage
  • Reconcile Keyfuel, BP and Merridale Ad Blue cost and usage
  • Reconcile and report on vehicle telematics data
  • Undertake driver fuel economy debriefs
  • Arrange new vehicle preparation (i.e., phone, tracker, camera, documentation)
  • Manage vehicle breakdowns (potentially out of hours)


Experience, Skills and Attributes:

  • Minimum of two years working in fleet control environment
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fuel and operating costs
  • Excellent communicator
  • Strong team player
  • Thorough, articulate and motivated


Performance Criteria:

  • Compliance: vehicle records, driver records, company IT systems
  • Financial: fleet maintenance costs, damage and repair expenditure
  • Quality: supplier compliance, supplier audits

Junior Traffic Planner
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Job Requirements:

  • Assisting the Traffic Planner in planning palletised freight collections and deliveries around the region’s road network taking into account priority freight, vehicle load limits and drivers health and safety.
  • Schedule appropriate resources to cover customer bookings and liaise with customers, network partners and subcontractors, as necessary, to ensure customer requirements are met in full.
  • Managing drivers to ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety, Drivers Hours, Working Time and Tachograph regulations.


Skills and attributes required:

  • Geographical knowledge of the East Anglia area would be an advantage.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt plans
  • The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Must be trustworthy and able to work unsupervised
  • Self-motivated
  • Computer literate with previous experience of Traffic Management Systems would be an advantage

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Planning palletised freight collections/deliveries using bespoke IT system.
  • Proactively dealing with drivers’ issues
  • Communicate effectively internally to ensure best utilisation of vehicles and drivers across all activities
  • Assisting operational members of the team with administrative tasks

Entry requirements:

  • Good IT skills
  • Experience of working in transport or distribution background is preferable
  • Experience in planning/routing preferable
  • Must be able to cope with a very fast-paced working environment
  • Forklift Trained is an advantage (full training given)

HGV Class 1 (HGV Cat C+E) (Day) Driver

Our Retail Services team are currently recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers who will be working out of ALDI RDC Sawley. Each driver, once trained will be responsible for loading and making 2 store deliveries per shift.

The Duties and Tasks

Responsible for loading and making store deliveries from the RDC to ALDI Stores across the catchment area, with the focus on compliant and safe working practices while keeping the customers’ needs in mind. Daily checks of your vehicle to maintain legal compliance. Always operating within the requirements of EU/WTD hours regulations.

HGV Class 2 (HGV Cat C) Pallet Multi Drop Driver

Our Network Services team are currently recruiting multi drop HGV Class 2 Drivers who will be working out of our Stowmarket Office (Relocating to Woolpit late 2021). Each driver, once trained will be responsible for delivering and collecting multiple pallets daily.

The Duties and Tasks

Responsible for multi drop delivery and collection to residential and business premises, with the focus on compliant and safe practices while keeping the customers’ needs in mind. Daily checks of your vehicle to maintain legal compliance. Always operating within the requirements of EU/WTD hours regulations.  In addition, once trained you will be responsible for loading and unloading your vehicle at the yard.
