Transport Admin Assistant

Traffic Planner

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are currently recruiting a Traffic Planner, at our Stowmarket Depot.  Reporting to Network Services Manager.

Monday – Friday 8:30am – 6pm, plus one Sat morning every four.

Outline of the job requirements:

  • Planning palletised freight collections and deliveries around the region’s road network taking into account priority freight, vehicle load limits and drivers health and safety.
  • Schedule appropriate resources to cover customer bookings and liaise with customers, network partners and subcontractors, as necessary, to ensure customer requirements are met in full.
  • Managing drivers to ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety, Drivers Hours, RTD (Working Time) and Tachograph regulations.
  • Conduct investigations and be involved in the disciplinary procedure, when required.

Skills and attributes required:

  • Geographical knowledge of the East Anglia area
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt plans
  • The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Previous supervisory experience would be an advantage
  • Must be trustworthy and able to work unsupervised
  • Self-motivated
  • Computer literate with previous experience of Traffic Management Systems

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Planning palletised freight collections/deliveries using bespoke TPN Connect TMS.
  • Proactively dealing with drivers’ issues
  • Communicate effectively internally to ensure best utilisation of vehicles and drivers across all activities

Entry requirements:

  • Good IT skills
  • Experience of working in transport or distribution background
  • Experience in planning/routing pallet network deliveries preferable
  • Knowledge of Destin8 system
  • Must be able to cope with a very fast-paced working environment

Warehouse Operative

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Due to the continued growth and expansion of the Pallet Network Operation, Bacton Transport are recruiting for the role of a Warehouse Operative at our Stowmarket depot.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Safe loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Ensure all pallets are correctly labelled and loaded onto the assigned trailers.
  • Scanning pallet labels.
  • Preparation of vehicle loads ready for second runs.
  • Putting pallets away in the racking.
  • Carry out forklift truck walk around inspections and report any issues.
  • Check double deck trailers for missing straps, punctures or any other damage and report any issues.
  • Maintain warehouse and trailer cleanliness to ensure a safe working environment for all.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • A working knowledge of transport/warehouse operations would be beneficial.
  • Previous forklift experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Full training will be given if required

Skills and Attributes:

  • Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be flexible whilst being able to work as part of a team but also on their own.
  • Must have a good level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Problem solver and able to use initiative.

Reports to:  Evening Operations Manager

Hours:  Monday to Friday9:30am to 6:30pm (1 hour lunch unpaid)

Salary:  £9 - £9.75 per hour, DOE

HGV Class 1 (HGV Cat C+E) (Day) Driver

Our Retail Services team are currently recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers who will be working out of ALDI RDC Sawley. Each driver, once trained will be responsible for loading and making 2 store deliveries per shift.

The Duties and Tasks

Responsible for loading and making store deliveries from the RDC to ALDI Stores across the catchment area, with the focus on compliant and safe working practices while keeping the customers’ needs in mind. Daily checks of your vehicle to maintain legal compliance. Always operating within the requirements of EU/WTD hours regulations.

HGV Class 2 (HGV Cat C) Pallet Multi Drop Driver

We also have coverage of the NR postcode area working as a delivery partner for an international freight forwarder.

Our Network Services team are currently recruiting multi drop HGV Class 2 Drivers who will be working out of our Stowmarket Office (Relocating to Woolpit late 2021). Each driver, once trained will be responsible for delivering and collecting multiple pallets daily.

The Duties and Tasks

Responsible for multi drop delivery and collection to residential and business premises, with the focus on compliant and safe practices while keeping the customers’ needs in mind. Daily checks of your vehicle to maintain legal compliance. Always operating within the requirements of EU/WTD hours regulations.  In addition, once trained you will be responsible for loading and unloading your vehicle at the yard.
